A celebration of chaplaincy at Derby Cathedral
Sunday 5th June 2016 at 6.00pm, with refreshments to follow Evensong
By The Very Revd Dr John Davies DL
In the County of Derbyshire and the City we are fortunate in having almost one hundred chaplains who express their faith through offering a listening ear and support to people in various areas of life in our community - these include, schools and colleges, the workplace, in hospital or hospice, at leisure, and in communities of shared experience.
Only occasionally do chaplains gather together and the Workplace Chaplaincy in Derbyshire organisation, an umbrella for many forms of chaplaincy, continues to arrange a service of celebration each year which offers an opportunity to share in fellowship together to celebrate the work we do.
We plan an ecumenical celebration of chaplaincy across the city and county.
The focus of the service will be on chaplaincy. The Principal Chaplain - Rev'd Canon Paul Morris will interview two chaplains, and other chaplains will lead prayers and read from the Bible.
The service will be preceded at 5.00 p.m at Derby Cathedral Café by the Workplace Chaplaincy in Derbyshire Annual General Meeting to which you are warmly invited.
(Papers for this meeting will be circulated to those indicating they will attend nearer the date.)
I do hope you will be able to come along to what promises to be a very special occasion.
With very best wishes.
The Very Revd Dr John Davies DL
Dean of Derby, Chair of Workplace Chaplaincy in Derbyshire
