The Revd Tony Luke

Tony has served as chaplain to Derby County since 2005. As a passionate Rams fan, he was asked by the Club to take on the role of chaplain and until very recently most of his ministry has been during the week at the Moor Farm training ground, where Tony gives pastoral support to players, staff and academy scholars.

However, a new working agreement having been agreed between Tony, the Club and Sports Chaplaincy UK, from December 2013 Tony will also have a chaplaincy role on match-days to stewards, staff and the 30,000 supporters at the Pride Park Stadium. This is an encouraging development, which should considerably raise the profile of chaplaincy.

Triathlon: Pat Cooke-RogersTriathlon:

Pat writes -twelve years ago God called me from a totally non-athletic background into the world of triathlon. The chaplaincy is event-based, working with the Ironman organisation, One Step Beyond and other event management companies to provide chaplaincy support for athletes, families and friends, volunteers and the organisers at long and middle-distance triathlons around the UK.

With help and support from local churches we organise Christian prayer and worship services on the day before the race, attended by athletes, their supporters and local people. We look to forge links between local people and the thousands of athletes and their families who flood into an area for the race. Long distance triathlons (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run) are intensely emotional and spiritual experiences as well as physical endurance events for many competitors - and also for their loved ones.

When I can I compete in long distance triathlons and other ultra-distance foot and cycle races.

I have been married for 25 years to a wonderful husband, and have four lovely children, four large dogs, two cats and a full time job in IT.
