The Revd Ian Godlington

I started at Rolls Royce in 1975 as an electrical apprentice, moved around all the sites and met many people. Our main task was installation, maintenance and repair of all things electrical. I was made redundant in 2001 after 26 years in the company. I set up my own business which has been successful in providing an income for my family.

I am also a 'Lay reader' and have been for the past 20 years at All Saints church in Mickleover. I went forward for selection to a Bishops Advisory Panel last May for the ordained ministry in the Church of England and I was successful, so I am now training to be an Ordained Local Minister, and I shall continue that ministry back in Mickleover.

My work as a chaplain at RR will be an extension of my pastoral ministry which I believe I have been called by God for this role.

I was born in Barnsley, South Yorkshire and after leaving school I worked for the TSB.

After serving as a Stewardship Officer in Manchester Diocese I was Ordained in 1992 and served my curacy in Manchester Diocese.

I then returned to South Yorkshire and served in a couple of parishes, where I was also a member of the School Chaplaincy Team.

I moved to St. Stephen's, Sinfin in October 2014. As part of the Rolls-Royce site is within the parish I offered my services to the Chaplaincy Team, and I am beginning to find my way around.

The Revd Miles Mitson

Rev Miles Mitson is a former Metropolitan Policemen and Railway Missioner. He joined the team in 2006. His previous work as Chaplain on the railway has been invaluable in developing the work in Rolls Royce and his visits are much appreciated by the staff.

We have been encouraged by the help and support of the HR Community Investment team, Union representatives and local management in the offices and workshops on site. Although the company has professional counselling support for its staff, being on the ground and readily available is often just what someone needs to help with the problem they may be facing. With their support we have been able to expand the Chaplaincy team to the Hucknall and East Kilbride facilities with the help of local Chaplaincy teams.

I grew up in Berkshire and studied Materials Science at university before joining the Rolls-Royce graduate training scheme in September 1990. I worked on research into ceramic matrix composites and then turbine aerofoils and surface engineering. I was also a member of Rolls-Royce Christian Fellowships in Derby.

I am married to an engineer and have 3 children. My eldest child has profound and multiple disabilities as a result of meningitis as a baby in 2000. This was a life-shaking event for me.

I left RR in 2002 and have retrained as a tutor and now work for Derby Adult Learning Service where I teach maths, English and ESOL.

I have a foundation degree in Theology for Ministry and worship at St Alkmund's Derby, whose members include many other workplace chaplains in various sectors. I am excited about joining the Rolls-Royce chaplaincy team.
